From October 14th, Dubai hosted one of the world\u2019s largest tech conferences \u2014 GITEX<\/strong> and North Star<\/strong> \u2014 for an exciting week of innovation and connection.
I joined part of the event and had the opportunity to meet Japanese entrepreneurs who participated in the J-Startup pitch session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What impressed me most was the strong presence of China and South Korea<\/strong>.
In sponsorship scale, China was outstanding, while Korean companies stood out in the exhibition booths.
Notably, the national AI project \u201cG42\u201d<\/strong> based in Abu Dhabi is led by a Chinese-born, US-educated CEO.
Similarly, the president of the AI-specialized university \u201cMBZUAI \u201d<\/strong> also has a Chinese-American background.
I strongly felt the global network and leadership of Chinese professionals<\/strong> in the fields of AI and data center development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indeed, the talent power of Chinese professionals is remarkable.
Some of my former students were already fluent in Chinese, English, and Japanese<\/strong> by the time they graduated from high school, ready to study or work abroad.
Given the population size and competitive environment, it\u2019s natural that many find their path globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, how about Japanese companies and professionals?
I\u2019m not pessimistic \u2014 quite the opposite.
Many Japanese companies have earned long-term trust in the UAE<\/strong>, contributing steadily to social infrastructure and B2B industries<\/strong>.
Their impact may not always be visible, but it\u2019s solid \u2014 and I feel proud of that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cutting-edge technologies draw attention, but whether they truly contribute to society remains to be seen<\/strong>.
Japanese companies, on the other hand, create value by supporting society quietly yet reliably<\/em>.
That\u2019s why the UAE has respect for Japan \u2014 this steadfastness is Japan\u2019s true strength<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, I read \u201cWhy Don\u2019t You Learn?\u201d<\/em> by Kotaro Tamura<\/strong>, and I deeply resonated with his perspective.
It reminded me that Japan\u2019s strength lies not in flashiness, but in steady, grounded knowledge and integrity<\/strong> \u2014 something truly rare in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Going forward, I hope to continue observing and contributing to the \u201cco-creation\u201d (not competition)<\/strong> between Asia and the UAE,
and to discover new points where each region\u2019s unique strengths can shine together.
